In the last week, I’ve been in classes or presentations with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, GoToMeeting and Blackboard. They all have their own quirks. Experience wise, Zoom and Teams have been pretty good. GotoMeeting was fine. Blackboard Collaborate Ultra was… not.
@thekatestewart @davispr Yeah. Most of the MA classes and PhD classes overlap like that. Look forward to meeting you tomorrow.
@thekatestewart @davispr It is. I’m in the Masters section of the class. I assume that’s the class you are taking, too?
@davispr I’m teaching the senior portfolio class for the graphic design and illustration program – my eighth year teaching that class.
And I’m taking Communication Theory, my last class for my MA. Just that and my thesis to go…
Taught my first online class tonight… and I thought it went really well.
Tomorrow morning, I’ve got my grad student hat on for the first time this semester.
@jamesmiller The one that prompted my tweet was on a well-known site. And the option to close it was pretty much hidden. It’s really not much better than malware or those spammy ads that pop up on free games.
I know the statistics say these “pop-up subscribe to my email newsletter” boxes on websites work. But every time one pops up and takes over the screen, I just leave the website. Can’t stand it.
@UofSC I work with @DanCookSC.
One thing I will miss when work-from-home is eventually over… the random bursts of sustained laughter from my eight-year-old while he’s watching TV downstairs.
@keyjbrown @GradSchoolatUSC @UofSC_CIC So excited for you. You’ll love the program.
Four years ago, I assumed it would be @jsnell on The Keyboard Addict, not @dowdyism. twitter.com/sketchbookb/st…
@sp8thegame I’m with you. We have two cars with gas tanks on opposite sides. I often have to stop and look at the little arrow on the fuel gauge to confirm which side the gas tank is on.
@sp8thegame I’m barely driving these days. Sometimes, I forget I have a car…
@glyphsapp Is there a best practice to handle a large number of instances?
@glyphsapp I figured you were working on it. (I love how you keep making Glyphs better.) I’m going to export it differently for OpenType, but for the variable font, I don’t see any other way.
Wow. Managing instances of a variable font in @glyphsapp is … challenging. There’s got to be an easier way to do this. (Or maybe I shouldn’t design a typeface that has 100 instances.)
@jsnell Still waiting for the space acronyms draft… 🚀
My eight-year-old just now… “In the words of Obi-Wan Kenobi… ‘Looks can be deceiving.’”
Pretty sure he didn’t say it first…
My 15-year-old’s post-lacrosse practice playlist includes the Ramones and Joan Jett.
I’ll be excited to cast my vote for Biden/Harris 2020.
@jacobandrewlong Maybe ESPN would kick in some extra money to divide among more teams? As a fan, I’d love to see the SEC pull in a couple of elite non-SEC programs, but I just don’t see how the financial equation works out.
Why would the SEC recruit teams from other conference for one year? Is this just wishful thinking from schools who want to play even though their conference isn’t?
“The SEC – college football’s premier top-to-bottom conference – is reportedly actively recruiting other schools to join the league in an effort to proceed with the season.”
This line from a CNN story makes no sense to me. cnn.com/2020/08/11/us/…
@voiceofD Design competitions are always problematic.
@UofSC_SJMC I’m in love with the classic old letterhead.
