@UofSCHousing Seriously, that’s one of her concerns about going to college. Where is she going to bake? I told her there would be kitchens, and suitemates to eat everything she makes.
@zoovaldes I got one of the scraps. They are delicious. Worth staying up for.
She’s not happy with the way the macarons look, but they taste great. I don’t know where she gets this perfectionist thing…
I’m trying to be a supportive dad, but also, I would like to sleep. It’s been a long week…
I’m going to have to reinstate the no new baking projects after 9 pm rule for my baking obsessed teenager. I’m still up with her and her macarons aren’t going well. She’s making them for a friends birthday. I know she wants to scrap them and start over, but it’s 11:40.
My 13-year-old is so excited to go get her COVID vaccine this evening. It’s adorable.
@kerryrm @_cingraham NO AND THEN!
@daviddeweil There are still two days left.
Because I know you are curious, here’s her logo. An attempt at some custom lettering… in Google Drawing on her Chromebook… t.co/jhEz1n0CV…
Lord have mercy, y’all. My seventh grader has to design a logo for her computer science class. And “What do you think?” has never been more fraught with parental danger…
@Sumsweetweet Also, don’t the schools in Richland County still have to abide by the county’s mask mandate?
As part of her computer science class, my middle schooler has to critique logos. She was asking my opinion since she’s “pretty sure I’m a graphic designer.”
@KaraSproles It’s completely stupid.
So the school board rescinds the mask mandate. THEN discusses the implications of that action.
These District Five board members are beyond incompetent.
My 16-year-old got her first vaccine shot yesterday. My 13-year-old is excited that the FDA will soon approve the vaccine for her and wants me to sign her up as soon as possible.
@jamesmiller I really love the way they look. I pretty much need a laptop, but these make me wish I could make a desktop work.
@jsnell @gruber Also, if you think about it, there are no user-facing logos on their laptops… The iMac was actually the outlier.
@Kapelanski I think Apple’s industrial design stands out in a way that visually separates it from other computers. Maybe that separation makes the logo less necessary?
Lots of people are commenting about the lack of a logo on the new iMac’s “chin,” but Apple’s shift in how they use their logo has been going on for a while. cc: @gruber @jsnell sketchbookb.com/journal/2021/4…
Apple is doing some interesting things with their use of logos lately, and some of it departs from conventional brand management wisdom. It’s worth keeping an eye on… sketchbookb.com/journal/2021/4…
The Curious Case of the Missing Apple Logo. (It’s not just missing from the ‘chin’ of the new iMac.) sketchbookb.com/journal/2021/4…
@KaraSproles He was great. A short, inspirational talk. Really enjoyed it.
@KaraSproles Pat Conroy.
@kelseyhagon I’m always looking for a place to use the squirrel icon. 😂
