Today marks the 50th anniversary of my dad’s ordination. A lot’s changed in the last 5 decades. He’s conducting a service via Zoom.

Finally, I was able to grab the little guy and get him into his carrier. (And he bit my finger in the process.)
And the gerbil’s name: “Chase.”

Somehow, my wife and I ended up as the parents that were helping catch this little guy, climbing through the bushes trying to corner him. We tried to catch him for about 30 minutes.
One of the other parents was helping and spotted him. “Looks like a rat. I’m not touching a rat.” I’ve got to admit, the little guy looked like a tiny mouse.
The group of kids (ages 3-9) had followed him into a massive shrub and were trying to trap him.
I couldn’t let this kid lose his new pet after one day… so I joined the hunt. We got a bunch of flashlights and tried to get him out.
Turns out one of our little neighbors got a pet gerbil yesterday and was excited to show him to this friends. So he brought him outside… in a net.
Predictably, he escaped.
According to Ryan, tonight will be forever known as “The Great Gerbil Hunt.”
Ryan was out playing with the neighborhood kiddos and I called for him to come in for the night. “Shhh! We’re looking for a gerbil.”
@KaraSproles She went through a pretty awesome Beatles phase. And then some classic rock. She finds a lot of really great stuff. I pretty much let her pick the playlist on the way to school.
My high schooler keeps discovering “new” songs on Apple Music and it always surprises me what she finds and what she likes. This morning on the way to school, it was Apple Music’s “Hair Metal Essentials” playlist.
@cwinston75 I sent her that tweet when I saw it. She had a bad AP experience last year. She seemed more confident this year. Just can’t wait to find out how it went.
My high schooler is currently taking the AP World History exam. I hope it’s going well. She was prepared, but so nervous about it.
